NLC plans to augument power production

Chennai: Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) planned to increase its power production from the present capacity of 3,000 MW to 10,000 MW before 2017 said Mr A R Ansari, Chairman, NLC.

“At present the NLC is generating power in full capacity and exporting 1,100 MW daily to Tamil Nadu grid and the balance to the national grid'' he added.

As part of NLC's expansion programme, it planned to start new projects in Gujarat (1,000 MW capacity), Orissa and Uttar Pradesh (2,000 MW capacity each). There should not be any power shortage to the southern states especially to the Tamil Nadu, if all projects were implemented.
