Nod for Projects Worth Rs. 587 Crore in 9 Towns.
The Centre has okayed projects worth Rs. 587.98 crore for implementation in nine towns in the state under the Amrut Mission (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation).
The projects are to be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Thrissur, Guruvayur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur. The funds will be used for developing water supply and drainage networks, road infrastructure, green zones and parks. Improving the efficiency of municipalities and corporations to ensure better services to the public and governance is also an aim of the mission.
The Centre will bear 50 per cent of the cost, while the state government and the local body concerned will chip in with 30 per cent and 20 per cent respectively. For co-ordinating the activities, a state-level mission and management unit and town-level mission management units have been formed.
