North over bridge opened to Public .
CM recently opened the newly-built 4-lane road over bridge at Kaloor, (north over bridge) in Kochi city for public traffic. The over bridge was built as part of the preparatory works of Kochi metro rail to ease traffic congestion during the construction of the metro rail.
Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas was the chief guest of the function. The work which was carried out by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) got complete at a cost of around 50 crore in 2 years time. The first and fourth lanes were opened for the public in January. The decimation of existing bridge started in January and got completed in February. Only after that the works on second and third lane got started. It’s believed that opening of this bridge will terminate the traffic burden of the city. The length of the bridge is around 350 metres. It’s said that all vehicles will have permission to use this bridge.
