NTPC to Invest ₹96,000 Crore in Chhattisgarh for Major Energy Projects.

NTPC Limited and its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) have signed multiple agreements worth ₹96,000 crore with the Chhattisgarh government to bolster the state’s energy infrastructure. The deals were finalized during the Chhattisgarh Energy Investors’ Summit-2025 in Raipur.

The largest investment—₹80,000 crore—will go towards setting up a 4,200 MW nuclear power plant. Additionally, NTPC will collaborate with the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd (CSPGCL) to develop a 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage project in Sikaser, Gariyaband district, at an estimated cost of ₹5,876 crore.

Further strengthening Chhattisgarh’s renewable energy landscape, NGEL and CSPGCL have formed a joint venture to establish up to 2 GW of renewable energy capacity, requiring an investment of approximately ₹10,000 crore. These projects will help CSPGCL meet its Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) and support the state’s distribution company in fulfilling its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO).

The agreements were signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, and other senior state officials. NTPC was represented by key executives, including Regional Executive Director Pradipta Kumar Mishra and Executive Director (Nuclear) Prasenjit Pal.
