ONGC Plans to Acquire 2.5–3 GW of Renewable Energy Projects.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is aiming to acquire 2.5 to 3 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects by 2030, a senior company official said recently, signalling the energy major’s continued push into the green energy space.
Speaking to reporters, Satyan Kumar, Executive Director at ONGC, said the company already operates around 2.5 GW of renewable energy capacity and plans to double that through new acquisitions over the next five years.
In addition to its renewable energy ambitions, ONGC is also seeking to secure long-term contracts to import 3 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Kumar noted that some of these agreements are expected to be finalised within the next 12 months.
The moves align with ONGC's broader strategy to diversify its energy portfolio and support India’s energy transition goals.
