Pathway to Matheran to get a makeover.

Work to improve the 5.7-km long pathway from Dasturi Naka to Matheran is set to start soon, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) inviting e-tenders for the project.

The work will be done as per eco-friendly guidelines as suggested by the Matheran Monitoring Committee in consultation with the Matheran Municipal Council, MMRDA said. Lateritic clay paver blocks will be used to keep the pathway in sync with the tree trunks and the soil below.

The development authority will also provide facilities, such as horse-mounting stands, large garbage bins, bio-toilets and storm water drainage system in the area.
