Patna’s First Six-Lane Ganga Bridge, Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur, Nears Completion.

The Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge, Patna’s first six-lane bridge across the Ganga River, is set to revolutionize connectivity in Bihar once completed. The bridge will connect Patna to Raghopur and, eventually, Bidupur, significantly enhancing transport links across the state.

The portion from Kacchi Dargah to Raghopur is complete, and work on the remaining section from Raghopur to Bidupur is progressing rapidly. Constructed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL), the Kacchi Dargah to Raghopur stretch is expected to be operational by next month. Once finished, it will be the longest extra-dosed cable bridge in India.

Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin shared updates on the project, stating that while the bridge from Patna to Raghopur is almost done, the remaining work is advancing at full speed. "A meeting will be held soon to review the progress and set a date for the inauguration of the Kacchi Dargah to Raghopur stretch," he said. While the original completion date was set for July this year, Nabin noted the project might now be completed by the end of the year due to delays caused by last year’s flooding.

In addition to the bridge, a world-class bridge museum is being developed, which will be the third of its kind globally and the first in Asia outside of China and Japan. The museum, covering 3,500 square meters, will showcase the bridge's construction process through a projector-laser illusion show.

Once fully operational, the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge will link the northern and southern parts of the state, connecting National Highways NH-31 and NH-322. The total length of the project is 19.76 km, with the bridge itself spanning 9.76 km and the approach path covering 10 km.

The bridge will connect Kacchi Dargah in Patna and Bidupur in Vaishali district, offering improved infrastructure and facilitating smoother travel across the Ganga.
