PCMC appoints project management consultant for proposed planetarium.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has appointed an internationally acclaimed architect as project management consultant (PMC) for the proposed planetarium in the Science Park premises at Chinchwad. The standing committee recently approved a proposal in this regard. The municipal corporation said that it has taken up the ambitious project at a cost of Rs. 14.64 crore. The planetarium building is unique and it will be a major landmark and tourist attraction in the city.

The committee said that the consultant will regularly examine the construction work, check quality as per specifications mentioned in the tender and hold coordination meetings with all concerned departments. The consultant will submit monthly reports, scrutinize payments and get completion certificate from the concerned authority. The architect, the committee said, has already been working on major projects of the tourism development plan. The architect has been appointed after the tender process has been completed, the committee said.

The same architect has been appointed for the proposed auditorium to be built in Nigdi Pradhikaran at a cost of Rs 37.25 crore. This is another project which will be a tourist attraction and will be a landmark for the city. The architect will hold coordination meetings with various departments and submit monthly reports about the construction work.
