Piped Gas Supply to be Part of 'Golden Mile' Project.
Smart Vijayawada would be developed as a pilot project by providing facilities like ensuring better movement of vehicular traffic, street illumination, maintenance services, waste management, environment and citizen services on the MG Road, according to IT advisor to government J Satayanarayana.
He was speaking at a review meeting on Golden Mile project recently, he said Smart Vijayawada should emerge as the the best pilot project worthy of emulation by others. The project is being taken up in private public partnership (PPP) mode whose total value would be about Rs. 7.91 crore. Of this CISCO’s share would be Rs. 3.81 crore while Vijayawada Municipal Corporation’s take would be Rs. 62 lakh and that of IT department Rs. 48 lakh and AP Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Rs. 3 crore. He wanted the services be made available to the people within the next four months.
Collector Babu A said, as part of Smart Vijayawada, piped gas supply has also been included as one of the services in the project. The plan for Smart Vijayawada has been drawn after studying smart cities abroad. He wanted Smart Vijayawada to be a trend setter in e-Pragati and e-Governance. City police commissioner Gautam Sawang felt that smart traffic controlling should be part of the project. Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian and CISO representative Vikram spoke.
