PM Modi to Inaugurate Three New Kolkata Metro Lines on August 22; Railway Minister Invites West Bengal CM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate three new sections of the Kolkata Metro on August 22. In a letter dated August 14, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw extended a formal invitation to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to attend the event.

The new sections being inaugurated are:

  • The Sealdah-Esplanade section of the Green Line, which will connect two of the city's busiest railway hubs.

  • The Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby Crossing)-Beleghata section of the Orange Line, expanding connectivity in the eastern part of the city.

  • The Noapara-Jai Hind Bimanbandar (airport) section of the Yellow Line, providing a much-anticipated metro link to the airport

Vaishnaw's letter, a copy of which was sent to the Chief Minister's office, stated, "We kindly invite you to grace the occasion at Jessore Road metro station for the above programme." The inauguration of these three projects is expected to significantly improve public transport and ease congestion for commuters across the city.
