"PM Scheduled to Lay Foundation Stone for Gurugram Metro Rail on February 16"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for the Gurugram Metro Rail project on Friday, a move aimed at enhancing the city's public transportation infrastructure with an investment of Rs. 5,450 crore.

The inauguration ceremony will take place in Rewari, Haryana, where the Prime Minister will also dedicate several other development projects related to health, rail, and tourism to the nation. The collective cost of these initiatives is estimated at Rs 9,750 crore, as per a government press release.

Key highlights of the Gurugram Metro Rail project include:

1. The extension project spans a total length of 28.5 kilometers, linking Millennium City Centre to Udyog Vihar Phase-5 and integrating into the existing metro network of Rapid Metro Rail Gurugram at Moulsari Avenue station near Cyber City.


2. The project's objective is to bridge the gap between the new and old parts of Gurugram. The proposed alignment entails connecting various key locations, including HUDA City Centre, Sector 45, Cyber Park, Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and Cyber City.


3. A total of 27 elevated metro stations will be developed as part of this venture, which is slated for completion in approximately four years.


4. The project is being spearheaded by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), while the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has overseen the existing Gurugram metro connectivity, covering a length of 14.47 kilometers, with 7.05 kilometers falling within Haryana.


5. Additionally, the project will feature a spur at Dwarka Expressway, measuring 1.85 kilometers, facilitating connectivity to the depot from Basai village, as per an earlier press release issued by the Centre last year.
