Ports Ministry Receives 29 Proposals Worth Rs 3,300 Crore from Andhra Pradesh.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has received 29 new proposals from Andhra Pradesh, totaling Rs 3,300 crore. These proposals encompass a range of projects, including port development and coastal berths, as informed to Parliament on Friday.

In response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal revealed that 13 of these projects, with an estimated value of around Rs 2,500 crore, are currently benefiting from financial support under the Sagarmala scheme. This funding covers various initiatives such as Ro-Pax and passenger jetties, fishing harbors, port modernization, and skill development. So far, Rs 450 crore has been sanctioned for these projects.

Additionally, Sonowal reported that the Visakhapatnam Port Authority and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) are working on 36 projects in Andhra Pradesh, with a combined investment of Rs 4,600 crore. Of these, 22 projects worth Rs 2,530 crore have been completed, while 14 projects valued at Rs 2,070 crore are at various stages of implementation.
