Railway Minister Visits Pune Station, Announces Heritage-Centric Redevelopment Plan.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced on Saturday evening that the Pune railway station will undergo redevelopment with a focus on preserving the city's heritage and culture. Vaishnav, who was in Pune to attend a BJP meeting scheduled for Sunday at Balewadi, visited the Pune rail division and conducted an inspection of the station with senior railway officials.

"The Pune railway station is crucial for both us and the city's overall development. We plan to redevelop it, but the work will be carried out in phases rather than all at once," Vaishnav stated.

He also highlighted the importance of improving the Pune-Lonavla ghat section and the Kasara-Igatpuri section of the railway network. "Trains on these sections face challenges such as slopes, sharp turns, and elevations. We are planning upgrades to enhance safety for both trains and passengers," he added.

Additionally, Vaishnav mentioned ongoing discussions between the state and central governments regarding the Pune-Nashik semi-high-speed rail project.
