Railways plans upgradation of 500 stations

New Delhi: The Indian Railways that has 7,000 stations across the country will mordernise over 500 stations shortly.

It will upgrade 528 railway stations spread over 16 Zonal Railways that will be developed as Model and Modern. Railways plans to develop 271 stations as model and 257 as modern with more passengers amenities, safety and security system.

The model stations will have basic amenities like rest rooms, retiring rooms, refreshment rooms and cloak rooms where as the modern station will feature sphisticated waiting rooms, signages, personal address system and improved cleanliness.
