Rajya Sabha MP Urges Construction of Flyover at Davorlim Railway Crossing.

Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade recently urged the central government to approve the construction of a flyover at the Davorlim railway crossing in South Goa, citing severe traffic congestion and the area's growing importance as an educational hub.

Speaking in Parliament, Tanavade highlighted the daily challenges faced by residents of the Navelim constituency due to the frequent closure of the railway gate. “This vital link connects Davorlim to Aquem-Baixo and major towns like Quepem and Cuncolim, along with several nearby villages,” he said.

He pointed out that the railway gate remains closed for 20–25 minutes during each cycle, particularly affecting students, office-goers, and daily commuters during peak hours. “The delays lead to long traffic jams, fuel wastage, increased travel time, and force many to take longer detours,” he added.

Tanavade stressed that a flyover would not only ease existing congestion but also support the anticipated increase in traffic from the upcoming educational hub in Davorlim.
