RDA partners with city traffic police

Rawalpindi: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Raja Riffat Mukhtar said city traffic police in collaboration with Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched a special project costing Rs 35 million to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.

Talking to journalists here, he said in the light of comprehensive study report compiled by city traffic police, work on special road engineering plan is continued with full pace.

SSP Traffic said that residents would feel an obvious change in March. He said all possible measures are being adopted to keep flow of traffic smooth at Murree road. CTO said that number of roads would be declared as one way adding the Murree road is being extended. He hoped it would be completed till the first week of March and completion of the project would help improve traffic system.

Under this project, he said the footpaths situated at Murree road are being brought upto standard size. The SSP told that chowks at 6th road, Rehmanabad, double road and Chandni chowk would be closed and alternative arrangements would be introduced.

He appreciated the services of wardens and said citizens have started abiding by line lane and stop line. He said role of CCPO, Rao Iqbal is also appreciable in improving the performance of the wardens.
