Reliance to shut one of its Jamnagar units for maintenance.

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) recently said it will shut one of its four crude units at its Jamnagar refining complex for maintenance for 3-4 weeks.

'RIL is planning to shut down one of its four crude distillation units, for maintenance and inspection (M&I) activities from March 20, 2014 for about 3.5 weeks,' the company said in a statement.

RIL owns and operate two refineries at Jamnagar with a combined capacity of 62 million tons.

'As a normal practice, opportunity would be utilised to carry out necessary modifications to improve the reliability and performance of the unit,' it said.

RIL said the planned shutdown period will also be utilised for catalyst replacement of VGO and Naphtha hydro-treater. 'The rest of the refinery will continue at normal levels of operations.'
