Remaining Land for Vizhinjam to be Acquired.
The state government recently decided to acquire the remaining land needed for the Vizhinjam seaport project and to arrange the necessary infrastructure for starting construction on the project.
The price of the land and other details will be decided by the district-level purchase committee headed by the District Collector. The final approval will be given by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary, it was decided at a high-level meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy recently. The land already acquired by the Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL) would be transferred to Adani Ports and SEZ. Briefing the media after the meeting, Ports Minister K Babu said the government needs to take over 30.62 acres more for the project.
