Rs. 700 Crore to Develop Road, Says Minister.

The government is planing to develop 183 km road, from T Narsipur Ellemala to Palar via Kollegal and Hanur, at a cost of Rs. 700 crore, PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa said recently.

He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the road along with Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (KSHIP) Managing Director P Mannivannan. He said the development of the road, taken up with a World Bank aid, will boost tourism in the region as it will connect Tirumakudalu with Male Mahadeshwara Hills and Hogenekkal falls.

He said the government initially planned to develop the road between Kollegal and Palar that would connect Srirangapatna. However, the department came out with a revised proposal to develop road from T Narsipur to Palar.

Mahadevappa said the local legislators and authorities will fix the spots for bypasses. After the road is complete, the travel time to MM Hills, a prominent pilgrim centre, and to Hogenekkal falls, will be reduced.
