Rs. 935-crore Nabard loan for Karnataka.

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs. 935-crore loan to Karnataka for improving infrastructure in rural areas during 2018-19, said PVS Suryakumar, Chief General Manager, Nabard-Karnataka.

Rural area projects include construction of mega marketyards in Rannebennur, Karatgi and Dasnapur. Infrastructure facilities in APMCS include 362 covered auction platforms and 148 godowns. Construction of 631.15 km of rural roads, 71 bridges and construction of 108 veterinary institutions (87 veterinary dispensaries, 17 veterinary hospitals and four polyclinics). A drip irrigation project with a potential of 1,818.18 hectares. A drinking water project in Hassan district and providing infrastructure in 162 rural educational institutions.

Cumulatively, as on date, Nabard has sanctioned Rs. 14,537 crore to Karnataka for the creation of storage capacity of 14.5 lakh tonnes across 28 districts, bringing 4.31 lakh hectares of land under irrigation, construction of 44,316 km roads and construction of 1,895 rural bridges.
