Russia-Backed Nayara Energy Raises Vadinar Refinery Crude Processing Capacity to 90%: Sources.
Russia-backed Indian refiner Nayara Energy has increased crude processing at its Vadinar refinery to 90–93 per cent of capacity, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The move comes after operations were curtailed earlier this year due to European Union sanctions.
Nayara’s 400,000 barrels per day plant had seen output drop to 70–80 per cent following the EU restrictions in July, which affected its exports and prompted key suppliers, including Iraq and Saudi Arabia, to suspend crude sales to the company.
Prior to the sanctions, the refinery had been operating at 104 per cent of its capacity, highlighting the significant impact of the EU measures on its operations. The recent ramp-up indicates a partial recovery as Nayara navigates the challenging supply and regulatory environment.
