SAIL Plans ₹35,000 Crore Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant in Durgapur

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is progressing plans for a major greenfield integrated steel plant near Andal Airport in Durgapur. The proposed project would develop 3–5 million tonnes of annual steel production capacity across approximately 900 acres.

A detailed project report has reportedly been submitted to the relevant ministry, while preliminary land surveys and groundwork have begun. Final regulatory approvals remain pending.

The development offers potential opportunities for steel plant EPC contractors, blast furnace and steelmaking equipment suppliers, industrial utilities, material-handling systems, power infrastructure and construction companies.
