The ₹700 crore upgradation project for Secunderabad Railway Station is progressing rapidly and is set to be completed by 2026, according to Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh. During his visit to the station on Saturday, Singh reviewed the ongoing work and noted that 27% of the project has been completed so far.
The upgraded station will feature modern architecture and world-class passenger amenities, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing passenger experiences through modernized infrastructure. Singh emphasized that the project aims to blend tradition with modernity while preserving the station’s historical significance.
Once completed, Secunderabad Railway Station will be transformed into a facility on par with airports, symbolizing the aspirations of New India. The station is also set to become a Green Energy hub, featuring solar panels and sewage treatment plants to reduce environmental impact. The redevelopment is designed to meet the needs of passengers for the next 50 years.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 119 railway stations in the South Central Railway (SCR) zone are being developed at an estimated cost of over ₹5,000 crore, according to an official release.
