Shoretel invests Rs. 150 crore in R&D, sales in Bangalore unit.

ShoreTel, a US-based unified communications company, is looking to compete with Cisco and Avaya in India with an investment of Rs. 150 crore on its R&D and sales and support centre in Bangalore.

The $414 million company has hired 100 people in India including 80 engineers and 20 support staff to fuel its expansion plans in the Asia Pacific region.

Currently only about 13% of the company's revenue come from outside of US.ShoreTel is also looking at adding 40 more engineers and 10 more support staff to its Bangalore R&D centre by next year.

'We want to tap into the talent pool available in Bangalore to support our expansion plans for Asia pacific market,' said Mark Roberts, chief marketing officer at ShoreTel.
