SIAM Cement's BigBloc Construction Technologies Anticipates Commencement of Commercial Operations at Kapadvanj Unit in 3-4 Months

SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd, a collaborative venture between Gujarat-based BigBloc Construction Ltd and Thailand's Siam Cement Group (SCG), is poised to launch commercial operations at its inaugural plant in Kapadvanj, Gujarat, within the next 3-4 months. The joint venture will specialize in the production of AAC Blocks and ALC panels, marketing these products under the brand name 'ZMART BUILD'.

Key figures from SCG Group and BigBloc Construction, including Mr. Jirapat (DMD and Green Biz Director) from SCG, Ms. Smitthida (Marketing Manager) from SCG, Mr. Palapong Palarith (Technical Advisor) from SCG, Mr. Akkharaphon Tipphayawong (Director, SCG India), Mr. Naresh Saboo (Managing Director, BigBloc Construction), and Mr. Manish Saboo (Head - Marketing & Strategy, BigBloc Construction), recently visited the factory site to assess the progress of the plant construction.

In 2021, BigBloc Construction entered into a strategic joint venture with Thailand's Siam Cement Group (SCG) to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility for ALC Panels and AAC Blocks with an annual capacity of 3 lakhs cubic meters (CBM) in Kapadvanj, Ahmedabad (Gujarat). BigBloc Construction holds a 52% stake in the joint venture, with the remaining 48% owned by SCG. This marks SCG Group's inaugural investment in India.

SCG, established in 1913, stands as one of the largest cement and building material companies in Thailand and Southeast Asia, ranking 2nd in the 2021 Forbes list.

The estimated total investment in the Kapadvanj project is Rs. 65 crore. Upon reaching full capacity, the plant is anticipated to generate annual revenues ranging from Rs. 100-125 crore. SIAM Cement Big Bloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd, the joint venture company, has secured a 60,000-square-meter land for the project, completed banking tie-ups for financing, and initiated the procurement of machinery and technical services for the plant. The venture represents a significant step in reinforcing India's position in the global construction materials market.
