Siemens Secures ₹91.6 Crore Contract for KMRL Phase II Communication Systems.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has awarded a ₹91.6 crore contract to Siemens Limited for the communication systems package of its Phase II metro project through a competitive open tender process.

The contract covers the installation of a comprehensive range of communication and operational systems, including passenger announcement systems, digital passenger information displays, CCTV surveillance, emergency communication facilities, fibre-optic networks, access control systems, office automation, networking infrastructure, and cybersecurity solutions.

KMRL said the communication systems are a critical component of the Phase II corridor and are aimed at ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient metro operations while improving passenger convenience and overall service quality.

The award comes as civil construction on the Phase II corridor continues to make steady progress, with major contracts being finalised in a planned sequence. According to KMRL, the project is advancing rapidly with a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and passenger-centric services.
