"SIPCOT expands into tourism investment in Tamil Nadu, identifying 31 potential development sites."

The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT), a government-owned body traditionally focused on promoting industrial growth, is now foraying into tourism investment promotion across the State. The move aims to harness Tamil Nadu’s tourism potential, with 31 locations identified for development as tourist destinations.

SIPCOT is working closely with the Tourism Department and the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation to identify suitable sites and develop them into well-equipped destinations. These sites will then be offered to investors in the hospitality sector.

Traditionally, SIPCOT has played a key role in industrial development in the State, having developed 50 industrial parks, including eight SEZs, across 24 districts, covering a total area of approximately 48,926.48 acres.
