Taskforce Recommends Replicating Sri City Model for Amaravati Hitech City Development.
The Task Force on Economic Development for Swarna Andhra Pradesh @2047 has put forth key recommendations to the State government, advocating for a dual focus on climate change resilience in agriculture and the promotion of high-tech industries to drive economic growth.
The task force urged the government to prioritize making agriculture climate-change resilient by developing and distributing more climate-tolerant crop varieties. The report highlighted Andhra Pradesh's vulnerability as a largely agrarian and rain-fed economy, citing the "damage caused by the floods in 2024" as a testament to this situation. "Therefore, the State needs clear strategies to combat climate change related impact on its economy,” the report stated.
Beyond agriculture, the task force recommended replicating the successful Sri City model in other parts of the State to significantly boost the electronics and semiconductor industries. This strategy aims to decentralize industrial development and create new economic hubs.
Furthermore, the report suggested the establishment of a Hitech City along the proposed ring road around Amaravati. This new hub would specifically focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and other high-tech industrial sectors, positioning Amaravati as a crucial center for advanced technology.
