Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop up to 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects, involving an estimated investment of ₹49,000 crore.

Under this partnership, TPREL and the state government will explore opportunities to develop solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects, with or without storage solutions. The initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, which aims to facilitate over 160 GW of renewable energy development with an investment potential of ₹10 lakh crore.

Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and Human Resources Development, highlighted the state’s ambitious clean energy vision. “We expect our landmark clean energy policy to generate investments worth ₹10 lakh crore and create 7.5 lakh jobs for the people of Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to boost the local economy, foster skill development, and support livelihoods, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position as a renewable energy hub. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & Managing Director of TPREL, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “By leveraging our expertise and cutting-edge technology, this collaboration will accelerate large-scale renewable adoption and contribute to India's sustainability goals.”

As part of the agreement, TPREL will conduct preliminary assessments, feasibility studies, and development activities to evaluate project viability. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will provide support in site identification, facilitation, and evacuation infrastructure.
