Tata Power to Build New Solar Manufacturing Unit in Odisha, Strengthen Renewable Energy Push.

Tata Power will announce a new solar manufacturing project in Odisha in the coming months as the company accelerates investments across the clean energy value chain, Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said at the company's annual general meeting recently.

The company has crossed 26 GW of generation capacity, including projects under development, with clean and green energy accounting for 66% of its portfolio. During FY26, Tata Power commissioned around 2.5 GW of renewable energy projects and currently has another 5.1 GW under execution.

The company is also expanding its energy storage capabilities through its pumped storage projects at Bhivpuri, with a capacity of 1,000 MW, and Shirwata, with a capacity of 1,800 MW.

Chandrasekaran said India is transitioning towards a cleaner, greener and more decentralised energy system, with renewable energy expected to contribute nearly two-thirds of the country's installed power capacity by 2030.

He added that rising electricity demand driven by artificial intelligence, data centres and increasing cooling requirements due to climate change would further boost investments in renewable energy, energy storage and grid infrastructure.

The planned solar manufacturing facility in Odisha is part of Tata Power's broader strategy to strengthen its presence across the renewable energy ecosystem, including generation, manufacturing and supporting infrastructure.
