"Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Proposes Establishment of Skill University".

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced plans to establish a Skill University in the state. The Chief Minister has instructed officials and industry leaders to submit proposals for the university's establishment one or two days before the start of the Budget Session of the State Assembly, which is scheduled by the end of this month. The government will make a decision within 24 hours after reviewing the proposals, according to an official statement.

The proposed Skill University is to be located within the premises of the Engineering Staff College, which is strategically situated near IT companies and other industries. During a recent meeting, it was decided that the industry department, in collaboration with the education department, will engage with industry leaders to develop a comprehensive action plan for the university. The report is to be submitted before the assembly budget session on July 23.

Chief Minister Reddy and officials discussed forming a Board for the Skill University similar to that of the International School of Business (ISB) and decided to temporarily establish a board. The Chief Minister urged officials to prepare a detailed blueprint in advance, covering the courses offered, curriculum, industrial needs, and employment opportunities for the youth.

The Skill University is envisioned as a public-private partnership (PPP) project using a hub-and-spoke model that is self-sustainable. The hub will be located in Hyderabad, with spokes in every former district headquarters to cover all parliamentary constituencies eventually. However, the CM asked officials to evaluate whether the university should be established through a private partnership or solely by the government.

Industry involvement will be crucial for demand assessment, curriculum development, skill training, and offering internships. A corpus fund will be created with CSR donations from industry. The officials have been instructed to hire a reputed consultancy to prepare the necessary proposals and project reports for the university's establishment. The Chief Minister also announced that the Department of Industries will be the nodal agency for the university.

Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Advisor to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy attended the meeting. Special Chief Secretary to IT and Industry Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary to Education B. Venkatesham, CM Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Dr. Reddy’s Lab Chairman Satish Reddy, Hari Prasad from Bharat Biotech, CREDAI President Shekhar Reddy, and Srini Raju from I Labs were also present.
