Thiruvananthapuram to be developed as solar/RE city.

The state government has selected Thiruvananthapuram to be developed as a solar/renewable energy (RE) city as part of the Central government’s initiative for the expansion of renewable energy through implementing the concept.

The state government has envisaged adoption of solar/RE city as part of its efforts to enhance energy security and mitigate climate change risk.

State nodal agency - agency for new and renewable energy research and technology (ANERT) - has been identified as one of the city nodal agencies with the responsibility to transform Thiruvananthapuram into a renewable energy city.
