Tirupati MP Urges Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to Accelerate National Highway Projects Connecting Temple City.

Tirupati MP Dr. M Gurumoorthy has requested Union Minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari to expedite the development of national highway projects connecting Tirupati with other parts of the constituency.

Welcoming the minister upon his arrival at Tirupati airport on Wednesday, Gurumoorthy presented a detailed proposal for improving several key highways. He emphasized the urgent need to develop the Madanapalle-Naidupeta National Highway 71, which runs through the heart of Tirupati.

Gurumoorthy also requested prioritization of the Tada-Srikalahasti-Uthukottai and Gudur-Rajampeta highways as part of the economic corridor enhancements.

Additionally, he urged the center to focus on the road under the Sagarmala project from Chillakur on the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway, which requires the construction of underpasses and culverts.

A major project highlighted by Gurumoorthy was the Siddheswaram barrage. While the center had approved a hanging bridge on the River Krishna, the MP proposed replacing it with a bridge-cum-barrage to store 50 TMC of water. This would support irrigation in the drought-prone Rayalaseema region.

Minister Gadkari assured that he would review the proposals in detail and provide a response soon.
