Tripura MP Meets Gadkari to Address Poor Condition of National Highways in State.

West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to address the substandard construction work on national highways in Tripura.

The state has six NH projects under construction by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), but concerns have been raised over poor execution, leading to road collapses. The Tripura government has repeatedly flagged the issue, with Chief Minister Manik Saha bringing it up in a meeting with Gadkari last year. Despite discussions in the state assembly, no corrective action has been taken.

Deb voiced these concerns in the Lok Sabha, highlighting the deteriorating condition of key highways that connect Tripura with other states. He stressed that the poor quality of work undermines the Centre’s Look East Policy and creates transportation challenges affecting trade, commerce, and commuters.Citing the severe condition of an 11-km stretch between Churaibari and Shanichhara on NH-8, Deb warned that the situation would worsen during the monsoon if immediate repairs were not undertaken. He urged Gadkari to ensure a long-term solution to improve road infrastructure in the state.
