Two subways proposed for pedestrians.

The district administration is contemplating constructing subways at the Kanaka Durga temple flyover to facilitate pedestrians to cross the road safely and without any inconvenience. These subways are being planned at the existing Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at the foothill and another one at Rajiv Gandhi Park right behind the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation office.

The subways are likely to be constructed under five metres depth and VMC authorities are laying the new water pipelines below six metre in the locality to avoid any hindrance to subways work and also mitigate any damage.

Collector Babu A held a meeting with Roads and Building Department and Soma Constructions Company, which bagged the flyover contract, about the flyover works recently.

He directed the authorities to take up the subway works without compromising on quality and according top priority to pedestrians’ convenience.

The subways should be designed and constructed catering to the traffic and pedestrians requirements in the future.

The district administration would extend all support in arranging temporary accommodation for the workers and day wise reports on the progress of works should be submitted to the authorities.
