"Two-Thirds of Greenfield Units Under PLI Scheme for Bulk Drugs Completed"

According to a senior government official, nearly two-thirds of all greenfield plants planned under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for bulk drugs and medical devices have been successfully completed. Arunish Chawla, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, informed Business Standard that the majority of the greenfield plants envisaged under the scheme have been inaugurated, with the remaining slated for completion within the next two years.

Chawla stated, "The 40 plants inaugurated today have been established over the course of three years since the launch of the scheme, and an additional 30 to 40 plants are on track to commence manufacturing operations within the next two years."

The development comes as Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated 40 greenfield facilities dedicated to the manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical devices under the PLI scheme. These facilities encompass 27 bulk drug parks and 13 medical device manufacturing plants spread across various locations in the country.
