USD 553mn ROP hospital contract awarded to Galfar.
The USD 553 million project for the construction of the Royal Oman Police's new general hospital has been awarded to Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company.
The new general hospital will be located at Airport Heights and is expected to be completed within a span of 3 years.
The project involves the construction of a hospital complex spread over an area of 90,000 square meters consisting of a main hospital building and 20 other buildings. Phase 1 will cover the construction of a 600 bed facility comprising a basement level, a ground floor and 6 additional floors.
In addition, the project will also include the construction of a multi-storey staff accommodation building, individual residential units, multi-storey car parking buildings, substations, a sewage treatment plant, and landscaping work.
Recently, the Tender Board awarded the Barka-Nakhal project to Galfar and in November 2014, the company was awarded the contract for phase 2 of Nizwa-Ibri road.
