Wapda signs deal for construction of Dhangali Bridge

Lahore: An agreement was signed between Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and Messrs China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE) for construction of a bridge over Jhelum River at Dhangali in district Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The contract amounting to Rs 1.012 billion has been awarded through an international competitive bidding.

The General Manager, Mangla Dam Raising Project, Hasnain Afzal and CWE General Manager, Yan Xinde signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations at Wapda House.

Wapda Chairman, Shakil Durrani, Member (Water), Syed Raghib Abbas Shah and AJK Commissioner on Mangla Dam Affairs, Amir Afzal were present on the occasion.

According to the contract, the bridge will be constructed in two years to connect Dudhial and Rawat. After its completion, an all-season reliable infrastructure will be made available to the people of AJK.
