30 mega projects in doldrums
Islamabad: 30 ongoing mega projects in the federal capital, under the Local Government and Rural Development Department are in doldrums while the construction work of only one road has been completed s far.
According to sources, only 25 percent work on 17 projects out of 30 projects has been completed due to negligence of the concerned department and contractors.
Sources further said that overall, Rs 924.156 million was reserved for these projects while Rs 300.308 million has been spent.
According to data issued by the Local Government and Rural Development Department, Rs 34.6 million was reserved for cementing of streets in Sohan Union Council while so far Rs 6.741 million has been spent. For the construction of roads covering the distance of 13 kilometre, Rs 35.732 million was approved while Rs 10.764 million has been spent and only 31 percent work has been completed.
In Kurri Union Council, Rs 31.92 million was reserved for the cementing of roads in eight villages while Rs 6.905 million has been spent and only 25 percent work has been completed.
The project concerning construction of a road in Bani Gala has only been completed while the pace of the construction work on other 13 projects has been slow and maximally, 60 percent development work has been completed.
