Road work to be completed in six months.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has given instructions to complete the Ulloor-Akkulam road-widening work within six months. He was chairing a meeting to discuss the progress of the work at the Chief Minister's conference hall recently. M.A. Vahid, MLA, said that the slow progress of the work is creating problems for many major institutions situated in this region. The work, scheduled in 2010, was delayed because of issues related to land acquisition.

Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar said that the Karamana-Kaliyikkavila four-laning work would be completed within the scheduled time. The District Collector has been asked to exempt environmental clearance for 1 lakh metric cube sand for the work. To ensure the continuation of the work, 1,000 metric cube of metal would be brought from Pathanamthitta daily.

An underpass would be built connecting the Government UP School at Nemom and the Victory Higher Secondary School, across the National Highway. The Public Works Department's office in Nemom would be shifted to another convenient location. Electric posts and water pipes would be shifted before April 30.
