Steel Ministry joins Gati Shakti portal to bridge infrastructure connectivity gaps.
The Ministry of Steel recently said that it has joined the PM Gati Shakti Portal and uploaded the geo locations of key projects with an aim of identifying and bridging missing infrastructure connectivity gaps.
The ministry on-boarded itself on the National Master Plan portal with the assistance of Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BiSAG-N), as per a press release.
It has uploaded the geo locations of all the steel plants of all central public-sector enterprises (CPSE) on the portal. The locations of all the mines of these CPSEs were in the process of being uploaded.
The ministry is also planning to upload the locations of over two thousand steel units functioning in the country. In future, other relevant details like production capacity and product details of all the units and mines will also be added, the ministry said.
The steel ministry has identified 38 high-impact projects to develop multimodal connectivity and bridge the missing infrastructure gaps.
The Gati Shakti - National Master Plan for Infrastructure development was launched by the Prime Minister in October 2021 with the objective of bringing different ministries together for integrated planning of infrastructure connectivity projects.
