TS may get 800 MW from Dabhol plant.

Telangana State may get 800 MW of power from NTPC Dabhol power plant almost immediately, if everything else goes in its favour. If the power is allotted and evacuated, it could be a major relief for the rabi operations in the State which are round the corner.

The Central government has apparently sought the state government's views about purchase of power from the plant, for which the latter expressed willingness, CMD of the TSGenco and TSTransco D. Prabhakara Rao said.

There being no other contenders for the same, Telangana could most probably get the allotment.

While grid connectivity continues to be a hindrance for power evacuation, hopes are about the possibility of swapping arrangement between NTPC plants.

Recently, the CMD of NTPC Ltd., Arup Roy Choudhury, expressed the resolve to revive the 1,967 MW Dabhol plant in Maharashtra, which had run into rough weather due to unavailability of gas and other problems. Gas pooling is being explored as one of the solutions for the problem.
