2,245 km of rural roads to be developed.

The Union Ministry of Rural Development has cleared upgrading of 2,245 km of rural roads in karnataka at a cost of about Rs. 1,033 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-II.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil told presspersons recently that the Centre would contribute 75 per cent of the project cost while the remaining would have to be borne by the State.

The department would spend Rs. 46 lakh to develop 1 km of road. The roadworks would commence from February 2014 and the time limit set for completing the work was about nine months, he said.
