3M CUNO opens filter validation lab at Bangalore

New Delhi: US-based 3M CUNO that manufactures filtration products has launched a sophisticated filter validation lab at its 3M innovation centre in Bangalore.

The 5000 square feet lab will provide comprehensive filter validation services for the pharmaceutical and bioprocess industries.

The filter validation lab is one of four such labs in the world set up by CUNO with a dedicated team of scientists and technical experts for carrying out Filter Validation Services, Filterability and Compatibility tests and filter sizing studies.

The lab has dedicated areas for Application Process development, Filter integrity and compatibility testing, Microbiology and Bacterial Retention testing with a separate lab to handle Cytotoxic drugs.

Presently, it can handle 40 projects a year and at a later stage can be upgraded to handle over 100 projects at optimum capacity. CUNO has validation labs in the United States, Japan and Brazil.

Filtration is one of the core processes in the manufacture of drugs and is estimated at nearly $3 billion worldwide.
