67.5% of Suez Canal digging works finalized.
About 68 percent of dredging works for the bifurcation of the Suez Canal have been finalized.
At present, the dry dredging work at the new canal has reached 169 million cubic meters out of a total 180 million cubic meters.
The New Suez Canal project covers the construction of a 72-kilometer long canal, out of which, 35 kilometers involves dry digging and 37 kilometers involves expansion and deepening.
Establishing a 76,000 square kilometer industrial zone and logistics hub and a tunnel for motor vehicles and trains running parallel to the canal are also proposed under this project.
The entire project is expected to be completed within 1 year instead of the previous schedule which stated that the project was to be completed in 2018.
