ACC Establishes Flour Mill in Maharashtra's Yavatmal District

ACC, the cement and building material company within the diverse Adani Group, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community welfare. In a tangible display of its values, ACC has significantly improved the economic well-being of over 300 residents in Chincholi village, located in Wani taluka of Yavatmal district, Maharashtra. This was achieved through the establishment of an exclusive flour mill catering to the local community.

Previously, the 80-plus households in Chincholi village faced challenges as they had to travel more than 15 kilometers, navigating difficult terrains, to grind everyday cereals into flour for daily use. Recognizing the impact of this seemingly simple task on the lives of the villagers, ACC took the initiative to address their needs.

ACC collaborated with the Jivandhara Self Help Group (SHG) under the Integrated Chanda Area Development Program (ICADP) in December 2020 to establish a new flour mill in Chincholi village. This mill not only provides easy access to a grinding machine but has also created a new source of livelihood for members of the local self-help group. The flour mill grinds locally grown cereals like Wheat, Bazra, Jawari, and Toor for as low as Rs. 4 per kg, with a daily capacity of 250 kgs. Additionally, this intervention is generating a monthly income of Rs. 12,000 for the members of the local SHG.

Ajay Kapur, CEO of Cement Business, stated, "This initiative underscores our belief that every positive step, no matter how seemingly small, contributes to the greater good. By addressing the basic needs of the Chincholi community, we are not just providing a service but promoting sustainable change and creating opportunities for economic well-being. This aligns with our broader vision of promoting self-reliance, community empowerment, and a more resilient and prosperous future for all."

The flour mill has not only eased the lives of the 300-plus residents in Chincholi village but has also allowed them to redirect their energies and scarce resources to more productive uses by saving on travel and expensive grinding services in the main market, situated some 15 km away.

ACC and the Adani Foundation are actively engaged in specific initiatives focused on social inclusion, community development, and the empowerment of rural communities. Their dedication extends to supporting and uplifting rural communities, contributing to positive change and sustainable development across these crucial areas.
