ACME Solar Wins 275 MW/550 MWh Battery Storage Projects from NHPC.

ACME Solar Holdings has announced it has successfully won two significant battery energy storage projects from state-owned NHPC, with a combined capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh. These projects mark a notable stride in India's renewable energy infrastructure.

According to a statement released by ACME Solar Holdings, the projects were secured through an e-reverse auction held on June 24, 2025. The company quoted a tariff of ₹2,10,000/MW/month for the 50 MW/100 MWh project and ₹2,22,000/MW/month for the larger 225 MW/450 MWh project.

A key aspect of these projects is their inclusion under the Indian government's viability gap funding (VGF) scheme. This scheme provides financial support, offering ₹27 lakh per MWh or 30 per cent of the total project cost, whichever is lower, as VGF. This government backing aims to enhance the financial viability of crucial renewable energy and storage initiatives.

The addition of these battery energy storage systems will play a vital role in grid stabilization and the integration of intermittent renewable energy sources, contributing to India's clean energy goals.
