Adani Group Enters Battery Energy Storage with India’s Largest BESS Project at Khavda.

The Adani Group recently announced its entry into the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) sector with a 1,126 MW / 3,530 MWh project coming up at Khavda in Gujarat, which the company said will be India’s largest BESS installation and among the world’s largest single-location deployments.

According to an official statement, the project will be commissioned by March 2026 and will involve the deployment of over 700 BESS containers at the Khavda renewable energy plant, already recognized as the world’s largest renewable energy installation.

The project will use state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery technology, integrated with advanced energy management systems to enhance performance, reliability, and grid stability.

Adani said the initiative will play a pivotal role in enabling round-the-clock renewable power, strengthening India’s energy security, and accelerating the global transition to clean energy.

The project underscores the conglomerate’s commitment to expanding its green energy portfolio and cements Khavda’s position as the world’s largest renewable energy and storage park.
