Adani Group-owned Ambuja Cements Ltd (ACL) announced on Saturday a substantial investment of approximately ₹1,600 crore to establish a new cement grinding unit in Warisaliganj, Nawada district, Bihar. This will be ACL's first venture in the state.
The new facility, with a total capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), marks a significant milestone as the largest investment by a cement company in Bihar to date. The project is expected to support the state's growing infrastructure needs, aligning with the priorities outlined in the recent Union Budget.
According to the statement, the project will be implemented in three phases. The initial phase, which will cost ₹1,100 crore and have a capacity of 2.4 MTPA, is scheduled for completion by December 2025. Future phases will expand the unit’s capacity at lower additional costs. The plant will be located in Mosama village, Tehsil Warisaliganj, District Nawada, and is well-connected by road and rail.
This development will significantly contribute to Bihar's fiscal revenue, generating approximately ₹250 crore annually, and create around 250 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs. The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has already allocated 67.90 acres of land for the project, and environmental clearance has been secured.
Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil & Gas) and Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, expressed eagerness to collaborate with the state government and local communities to advance this project.
This investment follows Adani Group's recent acquisition of Penna Cement for ₹10,422 crore, which will increase its capacity to 93 MTPA. The group aims to reach a total capacity of 140 MTPA by FY28 through both organic expansion and acquisitions, including recent additions like MyHome Industries and Sanghi Industries.
