ADB to give $150m for road project

Dhaka: The Asian Development Bank will provide $150 million to Bangladesh for reconstruction of roads and highways affected by the recent raging flood.
The visiting ADB vice-president, Liquan Jin, made the assurance while he called on the adviser for LGRD and cooperatives, M Anwarul Iqbal, at the latter’s secretariat office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
He also underscored the need for a long-term plan for tackling floods in Bangladesh.
Anwarul Iqbal sought ADB assistance for installing pre-paid metres to ensure proper use of WASA water.
The ADB country director, Hua Du, LGED secretary, Safar Raj Hossain, and the chief engineer, Mohammad Shahidul Hasan, among others, were present
